Hoshi no Yume Illumination

Hoshi no Yume Illumination is an event where the moat around Goryokaku is illuminated with nearly 2,000 lights to create a star-shaped illumination. Goryokaku is lit daily during the period.

Due to sunset time, Goryokaku appears black from December 1 to early January while it appears blue from mid-January to February 29.
Please also note that Goryokaku looks different with or without snow depending on the weather conditions such as snow accumulation.

[2019-2020] Dates and time of illumination
5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019, to Sunday, February 9, 2020.
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 10 to Saturday, February 29, 2020.

*Please note that the Goryokaku Tower closed at 7 p.m.

In time for the Hoshi no Yume Festival, the Goryokaku Tower is open until 7 p.m. during the Hoshi no Yume Illumination.
Special evening rates apply after 5 p.m.

Adult: 810 yen (regularly 900 yen)
Junior high school and high school student: 610 yen (regularly 680 yen)
Elementary school student: 410 yen (regularly 450 yen)

Hoshi no Yume Tree is set up at the observation deck.

During the Hoshi no Yume Illumination, the Hoshi no Yume Tree is set up at the observation deck.

Write your wishes on tanzaku and hang it under the Hoshi no Yume Tree at the observation deck!
Your wishes will certainly come true.

After the illumination, the strips of paper written with visitors’ wishes will be taken to Hokkaido Tosho-gu Shrine.

The Goryokaku Tower Atrium is also decorated with illumination lights.

The atrium located on the first level of the Goryokaku Tower is decorated with illumination lights to create a magical atmosphere suitable for the Hoshi no Yume Festival.

Illumination lights at the atrium are lit from 5 p.m. to the end of business day (7 p.m.)
