At Goryokaku Tower, in preparation for the summer holiday and Obon travel season, we will carry out window glass cleaning work at the 90-meter and 86-meter observation decks as scheduled below, so that visitors can enjoy a clear view of Goryokaku and the Hakodate scenery through spotless windows.

The work is carried out by teams of three workers riding gondolas suspended from the rooftop of the observation tower. Using cloths and squeegees, they clean each of the 315 window panes (total glass area: 874.52㎡) by hand. This thrilling operation, which can be viewed up close from inside the observation deck, is carried out three times a year (before the Golden Week holidays, before the Obon holiday season, and before the autumn foliage season at Goryokaku).
